Carol is a native to the San Francisco Bay Area and has lived in Oakland since 2013.
In 1978 she took her first ceramics class and fell in love with clay. Since that time she has used clay as a way to de-stress from the rest of life. The majority of her work is wheel-thrown and high-fired. She also does some work using slabs. Her "signature" pieces are her mini-vases, pictured above, most of which are 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 inches tall. Because they are small and travel well, they have found their way to people's homes all over the world!
Professionally, Carol worked in Public Health, first at the San Francisco Department of Public Health, and later teaching part-time at City College of San Francisco.
In addition to doing ceramics, Carol volunteers with Oakland Promise where she mentors two scholars who are first-generation college students in their families. She is also working on a book which she hopes to publish in the second half of 2022.
